KABUL, 1 April: The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid, told TOLO News that two Americans and some other foreigners are currently in the custody of the Afghan government.

Mujahid said that foreign nationals have been detained for violating the law, and any foreigner who comes to Afghanistan must abide by the law of the land.

“Two Americans are currently imprisoned along with other foreign nationals. The reasons for their visit are not clear, but whatever the reasons, anyone who visits Afghanistan must abide by its laws. Anyone obtaining an Afghan visa agrees to follow our laws,” Mujahid said.

US officials confirmed to the NBC that the Afghan caretaker government has arrested two American citizens, one is named Ryan Corbett and the other is still unknown, but his arrest is without reason.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the arrest of American citizens in Afghanistan is a new big hurdle in the way to good relations with the Islamic Emirate.
