Biden asks Nikki Haley supporters to vote for him

WASHINGTON, 30 March: US President Joe Biden appealed to the supporters of Nikki Haley, who was former President Donald Trump’s rival but later on withdrew from the presidential race, to support him directly in his re-election campaign.

“Nikki Haley voters!, Trump doesn’t need your vote. I want to make it clear that there is a place for you in our campaign,” Biden said on Friday.

Sources close to Haley said that neither Biden nor Trump had approached her to seek her support. Trump’s representative declined to comment on the matter.

About 570,000 people voted for Nikki Haley in Nevada, North Carolina and Michigan, which is not that many, but still a significant number.

Supporters of Haley are in doubt whether they have a place within the Republican Party, which has united behind Trump. Biden needs more support to win re-election.

According to a recent Reuters poll, Biden has 40 percent support in this election, which is too low to face a rival like Trump.
