CENTCOM says Houthi fired missiles in Gulf of Aden but no damage

CAIRO, March 14: According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked ships in the Gulf of Aden from Yemen with ballistic missiles, but this attack did not cause any damage to the ship.

“The Missile attack did not cause any damage to the vessel and the crew”, CENTCOM said in a statement.

The United States Central Command successfully countered the attack by shooting down 4 HAV drones of the Houthis and also hit a surface-to-air missile in the area occupied by the Houthis.

CEMTCOM confirmed that these weapons pose a threat to all ships going through the Red Sea route.

The Central Command noted that “the missile did not impact any vessels, and no injuries or damage were reported”.

The Houthi rebels have been continuously targeting ships in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab since November in solidarity with the Palestinians, and the the commercial ships have to change their routes to avoid being targeted.
