England & Wales record warmest February due to climate change

LONDON, 2 March: Last month was the warmest February in England and Wales ever recorded by the Weather Service, the UK weather services confirmed.

According to the British Weather Services, this is the second warmest February on record after 1998, when the temperature peaked at 7 C.

The Met Office said in January that the UK experienced its second-warmest year on record in 2023, just behind 2022.

The agency said the trend of decreasing cold is increasing, and it will increase further in the future.

There are clear indications that human activities are affecting climate conditions to a large extent.

“The UK’s observations clearly show winters are getting warmer, and they are also getting wetter since as the atmosphere heats up, it has an increased capacity to hold moisture,” Met Department Senior Scientist Mike Kendon stressed.

The European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service confirmed that 2023 was Earth’s warmest year on record, and the phenomenon will continue until we stop burning fuels.
