French foreign minister asks Iran to stop destabilizing the region

PARIS/TEHRAN: The French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna has urged the Iranian counterpart to stop the destabilizing acts in the region.

According to Reuters, the foreign minister told the Iranian top diplomat Hossein Amirabdollahian that Iran must not fuel the war in the Middle East through its proxies in the region.

Statements

“I called Iranian Minister A. Abdollahian and gave him a very clear message: the risk of regional conflagration has never been so significant; Iran and its associates must immediately stop their destabilizing actions. No one would gain from escalation”, Catherine Colonna wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Red sea has become a hot bed of militant activity where Houthis have targeted multiple commercial ships, disrupting the world trade.

In response to Colonna’s statement, the Iranian top diplomat told Iranian state media that “an effective step in ending violence in the region would be to stop the crimes of the Zi0nist regime and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, as well as taking action to stop the killing of civilians, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and prevent forced migration,”
