Gaza ceasefire: Hamas rejects Biden's statement as wishful thinking

DOHA, 28 Feb: Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group fighting Israel, has rejected US President Joe Biden’s statement about a possible ceasefire by Monday.

In an interview with Sky News, Hamas leader Basim Naim said that any such abrupt deal could be Biden’s wishful thinking.

Basim Naim told Sky News that we are not ready to accept any deal without an absolute ceasefire. “This is wishful thinking,” he continued, “in practice this statement has nothing to do with the reality. We have not received a formal proposal yet. And I think there are still gaps that what we want, what our demands are and the other side’s and what proposals shall come from the other side.”

Joe Biden hinted at a possible ceasefire by Monday but Hamas rejects the statement.

Talking to The World With Yalda Hakim, he said that the group hopes to reach a conclusion before Ramadan, starting from 10th March.

Delegations from both sides are present in Qatar for talks, but no formal conclusion has been reached yet. e.
