WASHINGTON, 27 March: US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, will ask a judge on Wednesday to dismiss a $1.4 million tax evasion case against him, saying that prosecutors built the case under political pressure from Republican lawmakers.
Hunter’s attorneys will appear before US District Judge Mark Scorsese to highlight the weak points and arguments about the case, including that Republicans specifically targeted Hunter by design.
Hunter, 54, has already said in an affidavit that he is wrongly accused of 1.4 tax evasion from 2016 to 2019 while spending millions of dollars on drugs and expensive cars.
The investigation has so far turned up no evidence that the president personally benefited.
The trials are expected to begin in June, months before the November election, which will decide the battle between Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, who is facing criminal charges.
Hunter Biden is also facing a trial in federal court in Delaware for buying a gun after using illegal drugs.
In this case, Biden’s son also appealed to the judge that there is no truth in this case, so it should also be dismissed.
