LONDON/TEL AVIV, 17 April: British Foreign Minister David Cameron said Israeli leaders have decided to respond to Iran’s attack last weekend.

“It’s clear the Israelis are making a decision to act, we hope they do so in a way that does as little to escalate this as possible,” David Cameron told reporters in Israel.

At the same time, he urged Israel to avoid escalating tensions with Iran and avoid responding to the last attack.

The British Minister urged Israel to do “as little as possible to escalate” tensions with Iran after it fired more than 300 drones and missiles at the weekend.

“Our views are clear about what will happen next and if Israel has decided to retreat, then we will say that Israel will have to be smart as well as tough,” Mr. Cameron said on the occasion of his visit to Jerusalem.

Israel should refocus on Hamas, prisoner exchanges, aid deliveries to Gaza and on stopping the war, he added.

David Cameron is among the European foreign ministers who will visit Israel in the coming days to convey his country’s position.

Earlier, Cameron has also met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and called for restrain amid Iran’s onslaught.
