ROME: The diplomatic advisor of the Italian Prime Minister has stepped down over a prank call.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said her chief diplomatic advisor, Francesco Talo, has stepped down from his post over an alleged leaked phone call between Meloni and an official from the African Union.

The Prank call

Meloni was heard making strange remarks about the war in Ukraine and the migration crisis.

The phone call was leaked in September, where Meloni said the Ukraine war had become an “international fatigue.”

Prankster’s statement

Meloni’s office confirmed that the caller was Russian and not an African Union official.

“In a conversation with an allegedly African politician, Georgia frankly confessed to all her European colleagues: everyone is already tired of Ukraine!” a statement from the pranksters said.
