BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore Ravens handed the Buffalo Bills their first loss of the season, dominating 35-10 in a performance that revealed several of the Bills’ underlying issues. Derrick Henry, the Ravens’ star running back, ignited the game with an explosive 87-yard touchdown, exposing Buffalo’s defensive vulnerabilities.
Henry’s touchdown run on the Ravens’ first play set the tone for the game. His prediction in a pre-game interview of starting strong with a big play became reality, as he powered through the Bills’ defense untouched. This display of power and speed highlights why Henry continues to be a game-changer for the Ravens according to ESPN.
- Bills’ Defensive Struggles: Buffalo came into the game with key injuries, and it showed. Linebacker Terrel Bernard and cornerback Taron Johnson were already sidelined, and safety Taylor Rapp suffered a concussion attempting to tackle Henry. These absences were felt, as the Ravens capitalized on Buffalo’s weakened defense. Coach Sean McDermott acknowledged that his team must work on fundamentals to bounce back as noted on Spectrum Local News.
- Josh Allen’s Struggles: Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who had been one of the top MVP contenders during their 3-0 start, faced constant pressure from the Ravens’ defense. Allen, who fumbled once and was sacked three times, could not find the rhythm to lead a comeback. Despite his difficulties, Allen remained positive, viewing this loss as an opportunity for growth as detailed on CNN.
- Ravens’ Offensive Balance: Baltimore paired Henry’s running power with Lamar Jackson’s versatility, creating an offense that overwhelmed the Bills from the start. Henry finished with 199 rushing yards, while Jackson played efficiently. Despite the dominant performance, Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton emphasized that the team remains focused on long-term goals, acknowledging the need for consistency throughout the season as covered by ESPN.
Ravens Future Implications:
This game highlighted the depth issues and injury struggles for the Bills, who now face tough questions on both sides of the ball. The Ravens, however, look set to challenge for a playoff spot, provided they maintain the momentum from this win. Coach John Harbaugh, while pleased with the result, stressed that this is just one step on a long road as mentioned on CNN.
