Pakistan army foils attack on Mianwali Air Force base

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani army successfully foiled a terrorist attack on an air force base in Mianwali.

The military said in a statement that all nine terrorists were eliminated before they could reach their targets.

Pakistan has seen a sharp increase in terrorist activities in the last two years after the Taliban took over Afghanistan.

The media wing of the Pakistan army, the ISPR, said in a statement that the Special Services Group was able to eliminate all nine terrorists that entered the PAF air base in Mianwali.

The attackers entered the base late at night by using a ladder and started firing as soon as they entered. 

Pakistani Taliban accepts responsibility

A newly formed group known as TJP, the Tehreek e Jihad Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The military said the terrorists were unsuccessful in damaging any fighter jets or killing any soldiers in the air base.

The attack drew widespread condemnation from political forces in Pakistan.
