Russia conducts anti-terror operation in Dagestan

MOSCOW, March 31: According to Russia’s Anti-Terrorism Committee, the Russian military conducted a counter-terrorism operation on Sunday in southern Dagestan and arrested three people.

The Russian military and intelligence agencies are on high alert following the horrific terrorist attack in Moscow on March 22 in which 144 people were killed.

Security agencies arrested three terrorists during the raid who were planning terrorist activities, the committee said.

After the arrest, during the investigation of the operation scene, automatic weapons, explosives and an automatic device ready for blast were recovered.

Earlier, the committee said that security personnel had rounded up several terrorists in local flats during the raid in Makhachkala, the capital and largest city of the Kaspiysk Republic.

According to the security committee, no civilians or security personnel were harmed during the operation.
