MOSCOW: A lawsuit has been filed to ban the international LGBT movement.

A lawsuit has been filed against the movement in the Russian Supreme Court to ban the activities of the LGBT movement inside Russia.

The Justice Ministry said the movement has elements of social and religious hatred.

The Moscow Times reported that the lawsuit filed against the LGBT movement accused the organization of spreading social and religious hatred.

If the lawsuit becomes successful, those related to the LGBT movement will face lengthy imprisonment, the report said.

Al-Jazeera reported that the persecution of LGBT as a social group increased after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

Russia equates the influence of LGBT with crippling Western civilization, which stands firm in supporting Ukraine militarily and economically.
