WASHINGTON: The Washington Post report quoted US intelligence suggesting Russia is undermining democracy worldwide.
The report has asserted that Russia is using different means to interfere in democratic procedures across Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.

US shared information with 100 countries
The Washington Post said the US has shared the intelligence information with 100 countries Russia will target.
The report mentioned that Russian government officials are using different tactics to undermine the people’s trust in elections.
“Russia was encouraged to intensify its election influence operations by its success in amplifying disinformation about the 2020 U.S. election and the COVID-19 pandemic,” Reuters wrote, quoting a State Department official.

Russia using spies and social media
The report alleged that Russia is using its spy network, social media and state-run media “to undermine public faith in the conduct and results of elections”.
It’s not the first time that Russia has been accused of such interference, as it has already done in the case of US and Canadian elections.
