Russia warns US ambassador of expulsion over interference

MOSCOW, 9 March: Russian Foreign Ministry has warned the US ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy that it’ll expel diplomats found interfering in its internal affairs.

The Ministry says it has warned the United States that it will take countermeasures, including expelling the U.S. ambassador, if the U.S. does not stop funding anti-Russian organizations and stop negative propaganda about the Russian elections coming in March.

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that Russia will suppress US’s negative propaganda regarding Russia’s internal affairs, including election interference, support for anti-Russian groups, and special military operations in Ukraine.

The ministry said, the United States should stop funding three NGOs named American Councils for International Education, Cultural Vestas and Institute of International Education because these institutions are working against Russian values.

Russia has already outlawed many Western NGOs and banned its citizens from working within its territory.
