Trump eyes $43 million campaign funds in Florida

WASHINGTON, 6 April: Republican presidential candidate and former US President Donald Trump‘s campaign fundraising is expected to raise $43 million in Florida through the week as he looks to replenish dwindling cash reserves for a rematch against Biden.

Trump has secured the support of Republican donors, including hedge fund investor Robert Mercer and his conservative activist daughter Rebekah, businessman Scott Besant, and casino owner Phil Puffin.

Trump tapped Paulson to be his campaign treasurer, and Besant was also given the position, two sources confirmed. Paulson declined to answer questions about the dinner.

Last month, Trump’s campaign said they would not match Biden’s fundraising this time because Trump’s total fundraising at the time was $20 million, compared to the Biden campaign’s total fundraising of $53 million.

More money is not always a sign of an election victory, as Trump beat Hillary Clinton in 2016 despite her fundraising total of $769.9 million compared to Trump’s $433 million.
