The Turkish Government also threatened to strike “all infrastructure, large facilities and energy facilities belonging to (armed Kurdish groups) in Iraq and Syria”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated in a press conference that infrastructure belonging to the YPG and PKK (both Kurdish terrorist organizations) were legitimate targets.

Ground operation is an option

The Turkish Defense Ministry has also made it clear that Turkish armed forces may initiate a ground operation in Syria.

The minister’s statement echoed concern in neighboring Iraq and Syria, where Turkiye had carried out attacks in the past.
