Ukraine destroys key railway tunnel connecting Russia to China

MOSCOW: The Ukrainian intelligence service has destroyed a key railway tunnel linking Russia to China, CNN wrote, citing anonymous sources.

The report mentioned that Ukrainian intelligence blew up a tunnel on one of the most important Russian railways, through which the BaiKal-Amur Main Line passes, in the Russian Republic of Buratia, close to the border with Mongolia and China.

Major railway connection hit

The CNN report said the train is the only major railway connection between Russia and China.

The source “The explosion is yet another successful special operation by the SBU,” the source told CNN. CNN said it couldn’t independently verify the extent of the explosion.

Russia says it is a cargo train fire

The Russian railway recently reported a fire incident in a cargo train in the Severomuyskiy tunnel in eastern Siberia.

The Russian military has not yet blamed the Ukrainian armed forces for the attack.

“Ukraine has for months been striking targets inside Russia, as it slowly tries to wear down domestic support for Moscow’s war”, the CNN report wrote.
