UNRWA says Israel is forcing them to admit ties with Hamas

GAZA, 9 March: The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said that some of its employees released from Israeli custody have disclosed that they were pressured by the Israeli authorities to falsely confess the agency’s ties with Hamas.

The UN agency was pressurized to confess that some of the regency’s employees were also involved in the October 7 attacks.

According to Reuters, the agency has produced a lengthy report alleging torture and ill-treatment of employees in Israeli detention.

The agency will provide the 11-page report to organizations inside and outside the United Nations that are working to investigate human rights violations, said Juliette Touma, UNRWA’s director of communications.

When the war ends, all human rights violations will be investigated, he said.

The agency documents that Palestinian staff have been subjected to physical abuse by Israel during detention, including crimes such as waterboarding and threats to kill family members.

At the same time, pressure was put on employees to say that agency personnel were also involved in the October 7 attacks. Reuters says the agency has so far refused to show us the documents.
